and that's the way I like it
Feb. 14th, 2002 10:24 amJames kissed me and wished me a happy valentines day. I returned the favor. And that is the sum total of our celebrations for this--one of the more contrived Hallmark Holidays.
I'm gooey and romantic over him every day--why should today be any different? Seems to me Valentine's day is yet another opportunity for expectations to be dashed after being artificially inflated. Or a day when the uncoupled feel even more bereft. Why indulge in that? Luckily James and I are of the same mind.
Sides, next month we'll have been together 3 years. And on Halloween we'll have been married two years. And now we'll have Emily's birthday. Much more worthy celebrations in my opinion.
Expressions of affection should be meaningful, not just cultural.
