I think we found the right vet!

==========
I believe we have found *the* vet.
Dr. Rovner at Higgins Animal Clinic!
The whole office staff is friendly --the front desk guy (who looked like Wesley Wyndham Price from Angel ) was quietly talkative, the vet assistant
was WONDERFUL. and so sweet--she talked to and petted Miss Ninny the entire time. Dr. Rovner spent almost an hour with us and talked
about all our kitties, he's pretty young and well informed about some of the
latest cat issues. He was patient and nice and soft spoken and wow.
Miss Ninny was VERY pissed off at having her ears cleaned but other than some yelling during that she was quite well behaved. We will be punished for this affront to her dignity however.
It was VERY reminiscent of Irving street vet and Dr. Bryan --the finest
vet in the world:

His pet research project is cardiomyopathy--the problem that Hotspur
had.
A full checkup, ear salve and ear wash cost $56--this is very similar to what it was in SF. I gather this is pricey for Chicago. But we are more than willing to pay extra for vets who will take their time and understand that our cats are family members, valued family members.
And from what it looks like--miss ninny had some ear wax buildup and
some inflammation, she's getting a little old and unsure on her feet
and is a bit constipated--but it doesn't look like a brain tumor or
anything any scarier than dirty ears. Dr. Rovner took the time to show
us how to wash her ears and told us not to feel bad, most people don't
clean their cats ears because they never need it--one of his cats
never had. He really personalized the whole thing. I'm so pleased and
relieved.
I can feel like our kids will be getting great care there.
