ninny update
Aug. 13th, 2002 08:14 amwe went in and visited her for an hour last night. Just hung out by her cage and fluffed her blankets and rubbed her chin and petted and petted. We got purrs and little creaks and when I looked in her eyes she was back behind them . She started to improve rapidly once they gave her the right treatment. As of 10 last night her ketones were down to a trace, her blood sugar was normal and she'd only needed one shot of insulin the whole day. And she ate well...tore into her food again (they were getting concerned she hadn't eaten dinner) after about 20 minutes of petting from us--see, it's GOOD to visit them in the hospital, I'm so glad vets understand that now. 15 years ago they didn't, heck even 12 years ago my vet thought I was a nut for asking for visiting privileges when Newguise was down with FUS.
And Emily slept through the whole visit --which meant both James and I got to see her at the same time.
The thing we have to worry about now is there is blood in her urine in a pretty high concentration--Dr. Rovner is going to work on that today. He spent about 30 minutes with us after we saw ninny and then talked to me about her and just general cat medicine for another 20 minutes last night. He said she was fighting hard and doing even better than expected. She's not out of the woods yet, but our ferocious girl is kicking evil diabetes ass as of late last night. We'll get another update in about an hour.
Your good thoughts and energy are helping miss ninny fight back and we appreciate it so much.
