Emily, bottle in one hand with a book open in her lap 'reading' to herself.

When I was gestating I hoped for a child who would love to read. Of course that she would be healthy, smart and fair of face...but always at the top of the list--reading and caring about animals. We'll have to wait on the second one until she's older, right now the cats are toys...but the reading...

It may not have hurt that I read a book every day or two during most of my pregnancy (hey I wasn't moving too well) and that I started reading to her pretty much as soon as she came out. But it's got to be in her too and the way she acts about books--bouncing up and down and handing them to me and crawling over to her reading area at least THREE times a day to sit quietly and be read to for 30 minutes or more...

Wow...

Today I'm doing cooking for Alex and hoping to light a fire under James to do some of the apartment things that need to be done. I'm also contemplating a mid life crisis, prompted by the first guy I ever slept with (at 18 thank you very much) getting in touch with me recently.

But you see having two friends fighting for their lives makes the navel gazing inherent in a life crisis unappealing.
