this is cool--like questions you always wanted to ask someone...

Andrew’s questions
1) What made you pursue your master's degree in english?

the first thing was one of my professors--Joseph Candido, reading Chaucer's prologue aloud...it was about the sexiest thing I'd ever heard. This isn't him, but listen:

http://icg.harvard.edu/~chaucer/gp-aloud.htm

And I had a class as I was finishing my undergrad with Re Meyer Evitt...and she brought out some of the smuttiest medieval lyrics ever. I was SOLD.
I still regret that I didn't get my PhD, but that may happen in the near future.

for example

I Haue a gentil cook,
crowyt me day;
he doþ me rysyn erly,
my matyins for to say.

I haue a gentil cook,
comyn he is of gret;
his comb is of reed corel,
his tayil is of get.

I haue a gentyl cook,
comyn he is of kynde;
his comb is of red corel,
his tayl is of Inde.

if you don't get all hot and bothered by that...well...JEEPERS! And Chaucer is terrifically smutty and full of farts and bare BEhinds.

2) What food holds the most cherished memories for you, and why?

My dad's breakfast potatoes. I tried cooking them the other day. I felt such love for em and James that I made them our usual brunch, but with a twist--i tried to remember his potatoes--boiled, then fried in a bit of butter and oil with onions and paprika and something else I'm still trying to remember. My mother didn't cook, my dad did and all my happy food memories are from him. It was one of the ways he could show us love.

3) If you could go back and change just *one* thing, what would that be?

oh man that's hard. I don't have lots of regrets but I'd have to say not getting my phd--that is if I could still have everything and everyone else I have now.
But only that way.

4) What's your most favorite Star Trek dream?

oh that's easy...the enterprise beams me up from my backyard in fort smith Arkansas and captain Kirk tells me I'm really his frightfully brilliant child left behind on an away mission to gather intelligence. AND that I never have to go back.

5) If there were no repercussions, where's the strangest place you'd have sex?

bwa ha ha...I've done that mostly...but I'd say a church altar or a confessional...

and I think the way this works is you can interview me or ask me to interview you!
