ok, so all the details
Jul. 10th, 2003 08:57 pmIt's much newer than I thought of going for, but after thinking about what
savagemutha said about old houses and problems and then seeing a number of older houses..well she was right.
The old houses looked great on the outside, but once you got inside...oh man...smelly basements, rising damp, caved in walls, additions that make no sense whatsoever (in old houses--well there were more rooms, but you had to hunch over to be in them practically) or a complete lack of necessary rooms..like a dining room--where the heck do you eat?
We did see one great place, with a huge yard and so funky and weird--they were computer folk too and shared a design aesthetic as well, but the problems-- like no air or heat (well radiators, but with a baby?) damp damp basement, on a main drag and loud...semi strange bathroom (and besides they had a kitty and didn't scoop well), needed a new roof soon...
well the place we got is pretty modern.. It's a split level...omfg a split level in the burbs..bwa ha ha..But the people who own it loved it. They built the basement into a rec room (and in light of my going on the wagon for awhile, I find it quiet humorous that it has a BAR in it) . There's a family room--which will be my area, kind a den...there's a dining room and a new kitchen. The bathrooms are new (the tub is regular sized, but we might be able to fix that) there's another half bathroom and THREE bedrooms. Oh and superneato keen --there's an enclosed patio for the kitties to frolic on and get some outdoor air...AND there's a huge back yard with a patio outside...WOO WOO--wading pool and cat door are our first purchases.
The ONLY thing we have to do is repaint the little boys room lilac and make it emily's room. Any my computer and craft stuff can come out of her room and go into my own little area..which isn't that wee actually.
I'd show you the listing, but it's only been on the market ten days and you can't get it on the mlsni!
