Bye Bye

We have keys!

We have a very clean house (they had a cleaning crew come by!) to move into tomorrow.

The closing was scary, but at times quite nice too. They got some numbers wrong and nearly gave James a $10,000 heart attack. He was so funny about that "you might as well say 10 billion dollars or 10,000 quatloos for all that it matters." But I found an error and our agent straightened out the rest of them money and we actually walked away with a few grand in our pocket (our earnest money and some taxes). Whew.

The sellers were a really nice family. She is going to 'miss her house,' which I take as a good good sign. The house feels good too, no weird residual energy anywhere.

It took quite a while to sign and then sign as proof that you signed, then initial...etc etc...

I noted to James that now he is truly the oppressor-- A white, male landowner. A few of you will be laughing now, I hope.

Ahem.

And he noted that he has an entirely new hobby of lawn care to begin.

And decorating ideas started exploding in my head almost immediately. It is going to be so very very nice. I just wish some folks were closer and maybe that it looked like the Edward Scissorhands mansion (but it looks more like one of the houses in the sherbet burbs), but you can't have everything. We just have nearly everything.

Madame Alex took on the daunting task of babysitting Emily on her own during awake time. A lot of awake time, since she decided a nap was out of the question. Poor Bean and Poor [livejournal.com profile] savagemutha . Alex said the Bean missed me--even said mommy twice looking for me! I was wondering if she knew that word. It helped to know that she likes having me around. She's so independent and curious that I feel like her shadow sometimes, but I think maybe I'm more like her security blanket--it helps her to know I'm nearby. Alex was terribly patient and even got the wild girl to cuddle with some songs and rocking chair time--that is exceptional.

We have finished all but the kitchen and Emily's room. The kitchen is nearly done and we'll finish it when James comes back from dropping the server at [livejournal.com profile] sushispook's and[livejournal.com profile] mschaos's house. Emily's room will have to wait until tomorrow early morning. She was so tired (girlie got up at 5 a.m. this morning after sleeping badly last night, as did we all again. what is it barometric pressure or something? House buying nerves? Moving nerves? The cats are loonier too) and only dozed a bit this morning around 9:30--not a nap really--so, so very very tired and turned into a crabby patty at about 5:15. I hope hope hope she sleeps through until at least 6 tomorrow--James and I need the sleep.

Mr. Newguise is doing ok. He's skinnier than I like him to be, but he's eating and bathing and being quite a lover. We thank everyone that holds him in their thoughts and that has wished him ease and comfort. He's my good fey girlyman kitty and we love him very much. Mr. Teatime is spending a lot of time under the bed, Zach doesn't want to come off the porch and Ninny walks around the house yelling at the boxes in her betty davis voice. Seriously, you can hear her snarking "what a dump" in every room in the house. They are all getting liberal amounts of tuna and white chunk chicken, as is their due they say.

I can't wait until they see their enclosed porch--they can experience the outdoors in safety--wind blowing in (only screened, no windows) and trees right next to the house for them to gaze upon the flying snacks (birds) and skittering snacks (squirrels). We'll be getting some leashes for Lion Country Safari (backyard time) on our next catfood run.

We'll be offline for a while now--from two weeks to a month. The email lists should still function as will the websites. Wish us luck!
