oh my god...girls might be loonie (and I admit they are, it's why I stopped dating them) but boys can be just a big a pain in the butt. Sorry that one won't wash, it is the human condition to be pains in the asses *until* you find the right one, I think that cures it.
now I will agree that a moratorium on dating can be a good thing. I did that before James. I'd been dating like a fiend for a number of months and decided I was only finding idjits and was just going to enjoy my own life for awhile. I'd started in on that and POOF along came your brother not a few months later. I'd done the same thing before after other major relationships ended, both immediately afterward (I wouldn't date anyone for awhile, I was too much of a mess) then again after dating for several months (the aforementioned idiot factor).
As for a CA visit, you let me know when and I'll help. I'm absolutely sure there will be a number of folk happy to put you up. And feed you red wine ;-)
