That was SO much fun. I've wanted to go for 10 years but couldn't get any previous boyfriend to go with me.
James made Royalty reservations.

Yes, it really does resemble that section in cable guy. That is part of the charm.

"Steven: Can I get a knife or fork?
Wench: There were no
utensils in medieval times, hence there are no utensils AT Medieval Times. Would
you like a refill on that Pepsi?
Steven: There were no utensils but
there was Pepsi?
Wench: Dude, I got a lot of tables.
.

(er, I only like that section, you know with the star trek music and the lirpa)

It was cheesy and goofy and fun, lots of fun.

It was tough to leave the Bean. We don't do it often, so it's a little weird. But it was very nice to spend the evening together, the two of us.

She was quite the easy child to babysit we were told. This was the first time we'd left her with a paying babysitter while she was awake. Usually we wait to go once she's in bed. She just gave us a kiss and hug and went on about her business playing with Miss Vogna. It was actually a little tough that she just looked at us for a bit (you could see the wheels turning) and then decided it was ok. I guess that means we've been successful in helping her become independant, but jeepers. She did get sad at bedtime, but Miss Vogna told her "Remember Mommy and Daddy are having fun and they will come home and hug and kiss you." And she sniffled a bit and then went right to sleep. At eight.

Scheduling = good thing. It's all habit now.

We liked the surly knight though we weren't seated in his section. I wonder how many of them are rennies? I was as goofy as an eight year old (something I like about myself that luckily James appreciates, when I have fun, I have great giggly, silly fun like a kid, I love that that part is still accessible).

Hmmm. Now, I am plotting to take the Bean once we are sure she can sit through it.

And we have commemorative glasses. I've decided I'm big on the commemorative glassware.

But, does anyone have the theme song to Thomas the tank engine--the one with the line, 'red and green and brown and blue, they're the really useful crew"?

Em is absolutely enthralled by this song (and Thomas and friends and even though it's classist as heck, I'm mostly ok with it too, I'm glad she likes trains)and would like to hear it all the time.

Thank you

To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower:
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.
- William Blake, Auguries of Innocence

I can't believe how much I love you and how much more amazing you've made my life. You are a dream come true my special girl, more beautiful and brilliant every day. I'd slay any dragon, rebuild ancient Rome, drink dry the sea for you, just ask.

But you still have to pick up your toys.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and moms to be and dads who do the moms job too.
It isn't an easy job, but it's way cool and you deserve applause (and chocolate).

I declare the shit week officially over.
I have divested myself of freecycle for the time being...taking a break.

I am going to a TEA PARTY with some intersting ladies , dresses and BIG HATS!

James and the Bean are at the playground and I can do anything I want to for the next many hours.

we're having the Bean's birthday party in Arkansas (a small family deal). And there's going to be a ladies evening, a kids day a couple of dinners and Spring Fest!

Then another party, where she will get a bike (with training wheels, she's too tall for a tricycle) .

And this weekend is the fancy tea with the ladies I've been most excited to meet!

I think things are going to start getting better now.

I know I"m flooding you with bean pics lately, but this was too good to not post. She wanted to change her clothes when she got home today, because she had paint on her shirt. I told her to pick out an outfit.

Sadly the sushi ain't great out here--though a new restaurant opened up we're going to try...but I grab Trader Joe's sushi for a snack for us every couple of weeks.

This is the third time the Bean has tried sushi and so far she likes it all. She's also got an interesting chopstick technique.

Thanks for all the fish )

Ok...she had her choices laid out for her today--narrowed to er..four. Well she knows she can get in her dressup box anytime and wear that stuff and she always picks out her own shoes (which can be pretty hilarious when you have snow boots and shorts on, but hey).

She went for the wild yellow and orange dress --I sent the purple as a backup. But let me TELL you about her accessories.

Easter bonnet and mittens and her pink tennis shoes. Purple mittens.Anime hair (she asked for TWO hair presents) I did manage to talk her out of her snow coat. Her teacher's assistant, Senora Cruz, just cracked up when she saw her and gave her a big hug.

I love my child. She's just so much herself.

Em's first school pictures are tomorrow.

Now--this all becomes moot if she chooses to wear her cat costume and ladybug galoshes (a choice I'm solidly behind) or shows any other preference except nudity (it's just too cold)

but..just for fun

Does anyone have a large (motherboard size) static envelope they don't need? I'm trying to send a motherboard to someone and need one. If I can't get one, I'm afraid she's going to be out of luck.

Thanks!

I'm so angry at the hypocrisy of GW that I could scream. Why is it OK for a baby to die basically at the hands of a bill he signed (that allows doctors to stop treatment even if it is against the express wishes of the family because of MONEY!!!) but he'll sign a special order to keep poor, pathetic Terry Schiavo alive against her HUSBAND'S wishes. I thought Republicans were for less governement and state's rights? What the hell are they doing intervening in something the states have already decided? What the hell are they doing getting in the middle of a marriage?

What about the kids that don't have enough to eat? What about underfunded schools? What about health care for everyone? What about some more jobs? Why is so much money and time and effort going toward this situation? I'm just sickened for everyone concerned. This isn't the business of the federal government.

“Inappropriate treatment” was defined under the 1999 Texas law as ‘medical treatment for which the patient cannot pay’. Ok, I'm overstating the case--but if that, while not explicit, is implicit. Who can find another medical facility ready to take on a difficult, possibly hopeless case? Those with money or insurance. Who can't? medicaid patients. Or those with out insurance. Like the six month old that had his feeding tube removed this week. Why didn't they keep a fresh new life, full of possiblity alive instead of wishing for a reversal in a brain damaged 40 year old woman--who made herself sick?

Citations are the DailyKos and thinkprogress.org.

And could somebody PLEASE please please find some balls and give them to a reporter and get him or her to expose Tom Delay for the grandstanding slimy unethical creep that he is.

GOD..I haven't been this angry about politics since Reagan.

For reasons that will become apparent when I can make more of an update--we are on Jola's website looking at pictures of Jola's hair "See pictures of Jola's pink hair." and Kurt . "See big Mr. Kurt."
