There is a sound that is the most heartbreaking in the world.
The crying of your cats (when hurt or sad), the crying of your partner or friends(when hurt or sad) and the crying of your baby (no matter when). Nothing will make you feel like a failure faster than being unable to comfort your baby when she's crying.

The princess had a very rough day yesterday for a reason we cannot determine. She slept no more than 40 minutes at a time. Then around 7 cried for an hour straight. Nothing could make her feel better. It's a horrible feeling of ineptness.

Luckily she did pass out around 9 and slept most of the night (except for snack breaks).

Funny how I knew things then when Herself arrived I discovered I didn't know anything at all.

Today has been easier. She actually had naps today, though we were worried about fussiness so we kept her on our laps.

I've been pumping for 30 minutes every two hours for the last few days. Very little has come out. I am quite disheartened.

James goes back to work on Monday. I'm scared. My new job starts in earnest that day.

*hugs*

I know that feeling. When Colin hurts himself or when he was sick, only Daddy can make him feel better.

About the pumping: this might help---gently massage your breasts or have James do it shortly before you pump. Helps relax your body and mind.

More tips from the Tea Lady. ;)

Check out "Mother's Milk" tea: http://www.tealand.com/MothersMilk.asp
"Mother’s Milk® is based on a synergistic combination of seeds traditionally used as galactagogues (agents that increase the flow of milk), including fennel seed, anise seed and fenugreek seed"

Oh (((((hugs)))))!
The mother's milk tea helps. Also you can take fenugreek, which is a nice herbal that even makes you smell nice.
Babies are so simple cause there're only so many things they can possibly want, right? But of course they can't tell us, and that's what makes it so hard. Make sure you get lots of rest and drink lots of water and the MM tea.
This won't last forever, it just feels that way.

emily is about 2 weeks now(i think)do you remember being about 12 and the excrutiating growing pains that come along with growing taller ,well emily is doubling in size quite rapidly and there little joints start to hurt if her belly button boo boo is gone take her in a warm bath with you and let her nuzzle up against naked skin if you are not healed yet let your husband do it, you will get your chance considering this happens on and off for the next 2 years, a baby's cry is the most heartbreaking thing a mommy can hear, i totally understand ,the milk thing will happen if it was meant too ,but i found letting my son nuzzle and try to breast feed while in the bath was soothing to both of us. this warm bath also works for collicky tummys
one more thing HAPPY MOMMY'S DAY AND A GREAT BIG HUG even though i don't know you us moms have got to stick together.next time she start the cry hop in a bath it worked wonders for both myself my hubby, and most importantly Collyn(my son)and to this day my boy loves baths and can play in the tub for hours.(yes i am quite random this morning)also if cord hasn't fallen off .warmwash clothes on tummy and joints and then bundle her in a towel to retain the moist warmth
have a groovy day!!
