sleep and crying

There is a sound that is the most heartbreaking in the world.
The crying of your cats (when hurt or sad), the crying of your partner or friends(when hurt or sad) and the crying of your baby (no matter when). Nothing will make you feel like a failure faster than being unable to comfort your baby when she's crying.
The princess had a very rough day yesterday for a reason we cannot determine. She slept no more than 40 minutes at a time. Then around 7 cried for an hour straight. Nothing could make her feel better. It's a horrible feeling of ineptness.
Luckily she did pass out around 9 and slept most of the night (except for snack breaks).
Funny how I knew things then when Herself arrived I discovered I didn't know anything at all.
Today has been easier. She actually had naps today, though we were worried about fussiness so we kept her on our laps.
I've been pumping for 30 minutes every two hours for the last few days. Very little has come out. I am quite disheartened.
James goes back to work on Monday. I'm scared. My new job starts in earnest that day.

More tips from the Tea Lady. ;)

Babies are so simple cause there're only so many things they can possibly want, right? But of course they can't tell us, and that's what makes it so hard. Make sure you get lots of rest and drink lots of water and the MM tea.
This won't last forever, it just feels that way.
