James is home. We missed him, and I get a bath.

I know, how exciting, but hey--a bath and a chance to read are big deals to me now. The little girl would rather be held than anything.

I got to have sushi for dinner last night thanks to andrew and miska (again and again).

I got to say hi to hellfaerie on Sunday but only for a second as Miss Emily was entering the 'hour of sour' I'm thinking she'll be more sociable when she can hold her head steady all the time. She's doing really well, but gets frustrated when she can't see everything that's going on and I can't face her forward in the snugli yet until her neck is stable. I think we did miss colic though, she's just a wee bit grumpy in the morning and night for a few minutes--there's something to be said for having a big baby finally--everything got developed, especially her digestive system!

Ninny has to go back to the vet tomorrow for xrays. We're thinking something may be broken. I feel so guilty--those kitties are used to a lot of attention and they haven't gotten as much--we've made a big effort to spend time with each of them every day, but still, it's not what they are used to. They are happier now that Emily will sleep in the co-sleeper at night and doesn't have to be in between us or on me. She does have to sleep on my chest for about an hour in the morning, it's the only way she'll go back to sleep, but the rest of the time the cats have me for a bed--they just don't quite believe it, since they haven't been able to sleep on me for months now (the belly was quite big and it hurt too much for them to sleep on my hips and side like they like to). Mr. Newguise and Zach go to the vet for checkups this weekend. We're going to try and take Emily..hopefully she'll be amenable.

What a cute smile! Oh man, I have to admit I'm a sucker for those gummy toothless baby smiles. And speaking of the "hour of sour" I saw a news short which featured a pediatrician talking about a new book called "The Happiest Baby on the Block: the New Wy to Calm Crying and Help Your Baby Sleep Longer" by Dr. Harvey Karp. This doctor said it was going to "revolutionize" how pediatricians tell parents to treat their newborns and he recommended it highly. I thought of you immediately and wrote all the info. down so you could investigate. Hope that's not presumptive of me, but I was thinking "I would've loved to have had that when Ree was a baby" so I thought I'd pass it along.

Thank you SO MUCH for that. I saw something about it on some program and couldn't remember the particulars, just the S's (side, swaddle, ssshh or something) I tried the side and sshs in her ear when she gets frantic and that worked. She HATES to be swaddled now though, opinionated baby. I'm going to grab that book!
