poor ninny

she has a 'degenerative bone' situation in her left knee (and her hip but that isn't critical yet) She got X-rays and an anti-inflammatory shot and will have cosequin added to her meals, which means she gets fed separately. The pop they heard was a bone spur apparently. We're going to try giving her a bit of tuna each day to take the meds (or something else--I need ideas what could be better for her) because she is the strange cat who doesn't really like wet food. This might be the reason she's been falling over when she shakes her head too. Having Mr. Teatime land on her with his great weight just brought the situation to the forefront. Or she slid on the stairs we don't really know. We'll have to make sure no one romps with our genteel old lady.

Miss Emily was a crabby patty today and last night, not much sleep.

Not much to say either, just worried about miss ninny and trapped under the baby dear.

Oh yeah, I think Emily has really cute toes. Baby toes are very cool.

Poor poor Ninny! Hope she's able to get better!

And yes, Baby toes are awesome!

Sweetie, I'm sorry to hear about your little old girl! Would she take the medicine in cooked rice? My sister does that with her old dog sometimes -- he's like Ninny (and my cat) in that he doesn't like wet food. But the rice somehow soothes him, and seems to mask the meds as necessary.

my mom did the lamb and rice thing....chopped up real lamb bits and cooked and mixed it in with cooked rice...granted it was fro dogs but it may be worth a shot...does Ms Ninny care for any other foods? maybe some sort of cooked meat that you can mix the meds in with?

Im keeping all appendages crossed...i love that wee girl

and Emily does have really cute toes...even if they are half as long as her feet

:)

ok, not that long

*hugs*

Poor miss ninnie. :(

And I've nothing useful to say about hiding pills (10 days of stuff for Bella's tummy was a fucking fiasco, and as traumatic for her as for us), but I'm perfectly certain that your daughter has perfectly charming toes.

Sigh, our Punkin had arthritis of her tail, hips and knees.

You should get her kidney and liver function checked. When we got Punkin's numbers stabilized, she felt much better.

We also gave her Glucosamine supliments to help her joints.

Aw, Ninny! I remember when she was a wee kitten--a tiny little gray princess! Has it really been 12 years??

Man, I'm getting old.

Does she like cheese? Depending on the size of the pill you can cut a small hunk of cheese, imbed the pill in it and get her to eat it that way. Otherwise, our vet has a device she uses for stuffing pills down a cat's throat that works really well (when she uses it, I've never tried it). Good luck. Our family had an old, old cat who was an old hat at not swallowing pills. My dad would pop the pill down her throat, rub her throat until she swallowed, check her mouth, let her go -- and she'd spit the pill back out. Heh

hi there -- i just had another suggestion for the cat pills. chicken and rice also works well and is gentle on the stomach. good luck with all that. >:( and after surfing later entries, i have to agree that the toes are precious, as is the pic of emily with one of the kitties curled around her head. yay living fur hat!
