heads up for sleep

So yesterday darling baby dear did NOT want to take her big nap. She took three short ones (less than an hour) but not the long one I have come to count on in the middle of the day (good for getting chores done and catching up on my sleep). Consequently she was pretty grumpy all day.
BUT
last night she slept from nine p.m. until after 5!! WOO. Now I was up every two hours because she'd start flailing and throw off her covers. I figured something out inadvertently that way--if I keep her under the covers at least from the waist down she stays asleep--at least that's what worked last night. So I'll try my theory again tonight, hopefully with someway to keep her tucked in under the covers all night. I can get the blanket under the co sleeper mattress, but she has some ferociously strong legs and kicks it off with just a bit of effort. I know I can't stay asleep without some form of covers on me, no matter how hot.
She's also able to roll over now very rapidly and get her arm out from underneath her and look up and around for minutes at a time. She's so good at this, she does it constantly--then when she gets tired of that she starts making crawling motions, which end up with her scooting along on her face and getting ticked off. She's going to be crawling soon. And when I have her in my lap she does her best to sit up well, like sit UP!
Hopefully today she'll give me a chance to write peter, Elizabeth and genevieve. And hopefully get some presents ready to mail to various folk.
She did give me a chance to take these pics this morning, LJ cut for your bandwidth pleasure.

Date: 2002-07-24 11:34 am (UTC)all mine have constantly kicked the covers all the way off. All the time. From the time that they could (about three mo.) Zoe (5) will actually get up in the middle of the night and throw her covers across the room in her sleep. I just dress them warmly and I know if they are really cold they will whine or get the covers on themselves. Or when they were smaller, snuggle up to me.
