the stand in vet at our regular (really good, really caring) clinic fucked up Ninny's treatment and put her in danger. I just provided him with a new cloaca. He will be disciplined. Turns out that idiot didn't give Ninny (who has been in ketoacidosis) insulin along with her fluids WHICH IS HOW YOU TREAT THAT CRISIS. Fucker.
She's back with her regular vet who is taking good care of her and he's going to
deal with Dr. Hernandez (and find out what in the HELL he was thinking)and report back to me. Dr. Rovner says there is NO REASON for her diabetes to kill her now if we keep it managed, WHICH WE WILL, if we are given the chance. Oh boy am I going to badmouth Dr. Hernandez everywhere, unless he has a REALLY GOOD explanation which I doubt, Dr. Rovner says Ninny can have her life back.

I'm so fucking pissed at Dr. Hernandez I could send him into diabetic ketoacidocis and withhold treatment after I pulled out his intestines.

She's hospitalized for a few days while they get her insulin levels stabilized. We'll be giving her shots for awhile if not forever but I would feed her 100 times a day and carry her on a golden pillow if it made her feel happy and like herself.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] dancer and her hubby have a diabetic cat. They've been doing twice-a-day insulin shots for a few months now and they're cat is doing great. They just have to plan who's home at 7am and 7pm, but other than that there hasn't been any problems for them. Good luck! I'll think well thoughts for Ninny.

THANK GOD that your regular doctor thinks it can be managed. Her decline seemed way too quick to me, considering that I *know* diabietes can be managed in cats at least some of the time.

(And now, I'd like ot order about 6 months of happy, trauama free days for pywacket. Not so much with the depression, the collasping ceilings or the sick cats....)

I think that would be grand...six months of trauma free time would set everything right.

I'd put in for more months, but I feel that's probably unrealistic.

well, at least she's ok. In a way it's relief that it was the doc's fault and not her getting worse on her own.

darlin' i have some strawberry wine with our name on it (if you'd care to indulge), let me know when you are up for a visitor and i will drop over after work ... i can probably get there by 5:30 any time this week. Just give me a ring or email and let me know what works for you :) hey, and i seem to recall owing you a chocolate cake :D

mmmm chocolate

mmmmmm strawberry wine. I'm for it. I'll let you know when things calm down, I'd love to see you. Your ears should have been burning on Saturday, I was talking about how cool you are to carrie and some other folk at the savages baby shower.

Thank god he didn't fucking kill her, the dumb ass. What the hell was he thinking? Clearly nothing at all. . . Grrrr... incompentence like that should be cause for an official reprimand by the vet board or somehting.

Dr. Beth has a diabetic cat that she's been giving twice a day insulin shots to for years, and she's doing just great.

All the love to you and James and Ms. Candy Toes and Miss Pop. (and the boys too, of course)

heh, that could be coming...Miska found me a place to post a complaint ( https://www.dpr.state.il.us/filing/) and that will be the next step after I send a letter to the clinic if they don't respond as I think they should.

YOu just don't screw with those I love you know? RAR!!

I'm glad the regular vet was able to help. What a scary situation.. :( Ninny is so lucky to have somebody that cares about her as much as you.

it was the one on Friday. The one Sunday at the emergency hospital saved her life. Our regular vet chewed the friday vet a new butthole.

Glad to hear she'll pull out of it! I've seen what diabetes can do to humans, I'd hate to see what it could do to kitties if mismanaged. :-( I love my cats more than myself! LOL!

Dr. Hernandez needs to have his testicles bitten off by Ninny and fed to him by you.
