She looked SO much better. Purring and creaking and eating eating eating. So much snacking going on. She came of the dextrose at 2 pm and has been holding her own with just the insulin and kitty food since then. If she makes it through tonite and tomorrow with a good glucose curve she gets to come home. The ketones are gone, the blood in her urine is gone and her blood sugar is doing well with just one unit of insulin in the morning and one at night--the smallest amount the vet has ever given.

She was just like herself, just a bit skinnier.

I am nearly ready to be relieved. I will when I have her home curled in my lap or on my chest exhaling her devil breath up my nose. Please let her come home tomorrow feeling better, please.

Miss Em was good through another visit and on another note today Em looked right at me and I *saw* her figure out that I'm not just the lady who feeds her, plays with her and changes her but that I'm mom. It's hard to describe, but I just saw her make the connection while we were hanging out in the rocking chair and she was sucking her thumb looking at me. This huge smile and snuggle and giggle and then a sigh and she reached up for my face. This hole in my heart fills in.

Yay for kitties feeling better -- and their mommies, too!

That is so cool about Miss Em and the "moment of truth." I hope you'll write this down someplace to share with her when she's older.

My cat just did that "leap up in the air for no apparent reason" thing. She's been hanging on me all day, since I was away from her for two weeks.

Hang in there. I sense things are getting better!

Miss Emily has been so good through so many of the visits with Miss Ninny because she's inherited your and James' kitty people genes.

OH YAY!!!!!!!!

Hi, I found your journal through [livejournal.com profile] kittypix and I wanted to tell ya that I hope your little darling recoups quickly. *hugs* I feel your pain with horrid vets. My cat Xaos (male) has been both neutered AND spayed thanks to an idiot vet who didn't bother checking first.

First off yay for Ninny getting better. Will she require insulin regularly or will this be a diet controlled thing for her?

Quick cut to a sleeping Ninny. The camera angle is low and her soft sleeping face occupies most of the frame. A large out of focus figure approaches slowly from behind and we see that it is James in an attack-dog training suit with a tiny syringe in one hand. As he gets closer we can see scratches crisscrossing his face behind the hooded catchers mask. Just as his hand is about to reach the sleeping cat, her eyes open with a baleful glare.

Jyllian enters the room to find James lying on the floor. James looks up and thinks, "Oh look, it's the lady who feeds me. Maybe she has some Bactine."
