1. Besides the weather, what was the most difficult thing you had to overcome after moving to Chicago?
It's a tie...Moving away from our friends and especially familiarity. I HATE being lost and have no sense of direction. The only way I knew to get around SF was practice and memorization.
2. What are the top three websites that you visit most often?
heh...LJ, yahoo mail (it's my throwaway account) and babycenter.
3. Describe a time when you laughed so hard you cried.
oh man, there are so many of those..There is one pregnancy story that I'll only tell in person...but one recent enough one---when I need to sit down and the baby is mad and a cat in where I need to sit, I point the baby at the cat and she screams and the cat moves quickly out of the seat. Invariably I laugh so hard tears come to my eyes
4. When did you first realize you were falling in love with your husband and how squishy did you feel?
The absolute weirdest thing is that the first time I saw him, at the bottom on my stairs, I got the thought "I’m going to marry this man" which I immediately dismissed as utter crap because I didn't intend to get married. But I was in love with him within a month of meeting him. What's cool is it's all in my journal
and I can go look at it...I'm guessing I figured out I loved him here http://www.pywacket.org/journal/99/march.html on the 11th. Right after he helped me put up lost posters for Miss Ninny when she was missing. Just immediately offered and came over. I was utterly squishy no matter how I tried not to be.
5. Since you are such an uber tech goddess, what words of advice do you have for girls who are just going into programming
or trying to break into the IT world?
Heh..dunno if I am anymore, but I used to be for sure. I would say to remember you have to be twice as good and twice as calm as the boys. Use your natural ability to communicate to advance yourself, since the geek boys don't have this most of the time. Get both the experience AND the paper. Cause if you have the experience you should be able to get the certification and that will give you the extra leg up you'll need.
Super-geek Bonus Question!!!
6. If given the opportunity to play Queen Elizabeth at Ren Faire, and it wasn't too hot outside, would you do it?
Abso fricken lutely. Mary queen of Scots would be my first choice, but of COURSE I'd be queen!
Thank you Alicia! I'm glad you liked your questions.
If you wanna be interviewed, ask me to!
