migraines and kitties.

ah migraine from 7 pm Saturday until this morning. I did get a break yesterday afternoon when James took us to a cat show in Arlington Heights. I’d seen the ad earlier and mentioned something and when my headache abated somewhat in the afternoon we decided to chance it. And lo and behold for an hour and a half it went mostly away. (the Excedrin migraine meds helped). I'm lucky I mostly don't get them like matt or Elizabeth--I have nausea, light sensitivity but only a little--a lot of sensitivity to noise and of course the stabbing ice pick in the eye pain.

The kitties were great and it was wonderful to talk to some serious cat folk. Serious Looney toons, like me. I met Bengals and ocicats, ragdolls, some abys Maine coones, ran away from the Persians (don't groove on pushed in face cats, i like cat noses very much)talked to some housecats there for the housecat contest. Met the world grand champion ragdoll boyo, weighing in at 19 lbs. Thought again about becoming a breeder or like my friend Angela suggested, using the back porch as a cat hostel for boarding a few cats when folks go out of town--and making a few $ that way (oh gee wouldn't that just be horrid). That would be down the line though--it takes some bucks to convert that back area into anything. Looked at some kittens of various breed, but no one said they needed to come home with us. I am suddenly taken by bengals and ocicats though. Now if I can get a rescued kid like that--because Mr. Newg's legacy demands such. James was sure we were going to come home with a kitten, but it just isn't time yet and may not be for a good while. The kids are pretty needy right now and I need to make sure they are in a good place before I disrupt their lives anymore than they have been . We're going to another show in Schaumberg at the end of January because I'm considering showing Zak in the alter category --he is easily more gorgeous than any aby I saw there (though a few came close).

Came home after quite a wonderful time (the bean saw the abys and yelled ZAK!! ZAK!! saw the Maine coones and yelled TEATIME!! --I got to tell the folks with the cats she was yelling at that she learned mommy, daddy and all the cats' names pretty much in the same time span). and promptly barfed and the megrim came roaring back. Passed out for a while..woke up, head hurting too much to sleep and watched (or rather listened to mostly) the movie NELL.

James took the boys to the vet in Chicago this morning. Everyone is in good shape but needs dental work. Zak swallowed a length of lace but seemed to have pooped it out in its entirety. Zak amused them by talking up a storm and loving everyone. Poor Mr. Teatime hid under the chair and wet himself.
He hadn't hit the box before he got in the car poor huget lil foof. Yes he is a giant chicken in a fur suit. But we love him and he is handsome. With patience he'll get over the trauma we rescued him from. He still hates boots, but you can wear them around him now.

Head is fine today thank goodness. Cleaning the house in a big way for having some new possible local friend types over for dinner with their 2 year old Clare (she and the bean look remarkably alike and are both wild eeps). James is off this week so hopefully we'll be getting some house projects done. Must lie down for a bit now, I'm pretty tired--migraines don't let you rest so well when you sleep.

I'm still just so happy about that cat show. I haven't been to one since James and I got together and I used to go to a few a year. I think that (and Sci Fi/Horror conventions) need to be reinstated, yes I do.

I understand. When my one of my migraines finally disappears, I always feel a mixture of relief and exhaustion.

I've never been to either one. Perhaps one day we'll be able to attend one (or both) together.

I fear breeds that have their nose right between their eyes.

I've toyed with the idea of entering Dodger in a household class just for fun, but I have no idea where to start. He also had a panic attack and covered the inside of his carrier with caca last time he was in the car, so... maybe we should just show him off at home!

The last (and only)cat show I've been to was the one in the lobby of the hotel that hosted the S&M convention I was piercing at.So siffice to say all us "freaks" were in the kitty gift shop trying on collars and "playing" w/the cat toys (the feather "switch" was a group fave)!Teehee! It was definatly an interesting and amusing adventure. That and I've never seen so many gorgeous kitties and neurotic peaple in one place in all my life!LOL!
Anyhow glad to hear you guys are starting to get settled and a bit more acclimated to your new surroundings!:)

p.s.next cat show that comes up feel free to give a holler if you'd like the company! *wink, wink*

Yay for cat shows! I don't get to see too many now. They all seem to be held waaaay in the hell out in the 'burbs. I don't drive, bus service is a bitch to get out there, and I will never entice my husband to see a show with me. He went to one early on in our relationship, but I think the need to humour me is gone. Luckily there was one downtown last year so I took my kids. They were quite entranced by all the pretty kitties, minded their manners and kept their hands to themselves, and wanted to buy every toy at the show for our 18 pound fuzzwad. I am a bit of a 'Household Kitty' groupie at shows. I like to follow that group from ring to ring and watch the judging right through to the end on the last day.

Dammit I wish they didn't hold all the shows out in Langley now.
