Happy Anniversary you two! I was going to call you today to wish you a happy anniversary, but I didn't wake up until 6, so I felt it was a little late in the evening to give you guys a buzz.

Em looks adorable in those pictures! It brings back memories of my pumpkin patch experiences as a kid. (Yeah, they had pumpkin patches in Texas, can you believe it?) You guys wouldn't have been able to do that in San Francisco. (Maybe in the bay area, but certainly not in the city proper.) I'm glad you guys are living somewhere where you get to experience all of this. I can't wait for the trick or treat pictures!

You know, you and J really need to have that Gomez/Morticia picture framed and up on your wall somewhere. Seriously. Must have it.

I miss Raul Julia. He was such a major studmuffin. Addams Family and Kiss of the Spider Woman, oh man.. woohoo. And Anjelica Houston was so perfect as Morticia. Gomez and Morticia definitely seemed like people you wanted to hang out with. I also had kind of a crush on Uncle Fester. (Jackie Coogan, not Christopher Lloyd.) It was nice to find another individual who was as obsessed with scabs as I was.

Some other things I was thinking about: Does Emily like to listen to music? I think that you two need to have copies of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice soundtracks, and I wanted to get them for you at some point, but I wanted to make sure you didn't have them already. Had I had the foresight, I would have gotten them for you two for your anniversary and made sure they were there in time for Halloween.

I actually celebrated Halloween for the first time in years. I went to a friend's costume party last night. I dressed up as charlie brown. Matt had given me his charlie brown sweater years ago, so I wore that, plus appropriate black shorts and brown shoes, and I shaved my head and drew a curly cue on my head with eyeliner pencil, in addition to the three little bits of hair he has on the back of his head. Then I found a cheap white fleece blanket and cut it full of holes to mimic his ghost costume from the great pumpkin special, and I carried around a trick or treat pumpkin full of rocks. ("I got a rock")

I was pleasantly surprised that most people at the party actually remembered the reference to that particular tv special, since for most of us, it was a really long time ago since we had last seen it.

Peanuts has always been a big part of Halloween for me. I was a huge peanuts fan as a kid. And I always enjoyed how sadistic Charles Shultz was to his charlie brown character. I mean, what kind of people give a kid a rock for Halloween? Do they have a separate bowl set aside full of rocks in their house, that they give to kids they don't like? I loved that whole concept!

Anyway, I know Emily won't be getting any rocks. But be sure to egg the houses of people who give her rasins or some other lame thing like that! Nature's candy, my ass.

I'm so glad you all had such a wonderful day! From the pictures alone, it's apparent that it was a whole lot of fun. I'm also glad you have had a chance to go out and socialize with other people, (who are hopefully much much nicer to you and appreciate you guys for who you truly are.)

oh darlin, em knows the words to a good chunk of NMBC. We watch it or parts of it every month at least. It is our favorite movie and was the theme for our wedding--even used part of Jack and Sally's song in our vows.

Emily LOVES music. We have They might be giants for her --she loves the "birdhouse song" and their new cd "NO" which is just great for kids and adults for that matter. One of her favorite songs too is "every day is Halloween" as well as the Wiggles and Laurie Berkner.

I loved Raul Julia too. I always grooved on the Adams Family anyway, but he really was a fantastic gomez.

Halloween really is wonderful out here. People get into decorating their houses and there are lots of things for kids and it just brings the whole Holiday back again in a really wonderful way. We have more fun with her than we had on Halloween the previous 10 years.

Em got lots of candy, not a healthy snack in the bunch. And she's completely into it now. "TRICK OR TREAT WANT SOME CANDY!" Now parcelling it out over the next while will be hard. We've never given her a lot of sweets, and she was never that interested, but after last night she sure is.

:-)

I think my favorite song from NMBC is "Kidnap the Sandy Claus"

Years ago, Chuck changed the words and used to sing "bitch slap the sandy claus" so that's always how I sing it. "Bitch slap the sandy claus, tie him in a bag"

I always identified with those three little kids. I love the fact that my 2D teacher worked on that film. He's going to be teaching a stop motion animation class next quarter and I am ALL over that!

I've got to find you a copy of the beetlejuice soundtrack. Don't get it yourself!

I think my favorite TMBG song is that one which has only one line and it says "What's that bluue thiing, doiiing heere?"

Hope you and Gomez and Wednesday are doing well today.
