of my hometown.
FHS has the only Gay positive club in all the schools in Arkansas. That asshole Phelps was there with his ignorant followers but they didn't get far.

That's pretty much why I don't get the signs. 'cause, you know, Sherilyn and I didn't get legally married in February only to have it taken away a few months later because we're the same gender or anything like that.

you know, if I could actually understand any of the logic, I'm sure I'd have a positronic cascade failure and switch off.

Heh. I think the people who can understand the logic have broken brains.

What keeps hurting my heart the most is that my marriage to my ex-husband, the man who physically and emotionally abused me, was sanctioned by both the government and the church. Yet I can't legally marry the woman who treats me like a princess on most days. (And even our worst moments as a couple don't come anywhere close to the way I was frequently mistreated by my ex-husband.)

When I think of these things, I get so angry and hurt that I just want to scream at the top of my lungs. :(

Ah-yup. It's maddening. Shouldn't a "real" marriage be the one that's based on love and respect? Shouldn't "real" parents be the ones who do the best job caring for the children?

I was talking to my sister last week about those two gay men in Florida a few years ago (I think that's where it was, my memory is bad these days) who had all these kids they were fostering. Kids who had been badly abused elsewhere, and no one else wanted them. These two guys were apparently doing a wonderful job taking care of them, but they weren't allowed to adopt. Even though the kids wanted to stay with their "dads."

My sister's in-laws are the kind of crazy hypocritical Catholics who spout "adoption not abortion" at the drop of a hat, but they would be the first to deny gay couples the right to adopt. Hell, they don't even really like the idea of STRAIGHT couples adopting. She and her husband have had trouble conceiving, and when they mentioned adoption, his mother said right away "Oh, you never love an adopted child as much as one of your own." Not that she would know firsthand, of course.

Whaddya do? You can't shoot every idiot.

But how cool that the numbers protesting the protestors way outnumbered the pitiful band of bigots. Yay for Fayetteville! Boo, hiss to Phelps. (Where's that extra-painful rectal cancer I ordered for that dude?)

whoa. what's up with this thank god for sept. 11 stuff? I thought the lefties were the ones always being (mostly falsely) accused of belittling the significance of that event, yet these people, who openly praise it, get a pass? Under the new patriot act, isn't that a statement worthy of an investigation or at least a visit from the FBI guys? People seem to forget that whites can be potential terrorists, too. If the guys come to question you for saying you want president Bush dead, shouldn't they start keeping an eye on you if you talk openly about how great Sept 11 was? Isn't it a double standard if they don't?

Miss you.

I had a friend who actually got in a bit of trouble for spitting on Phelps once.

Whoopsies! (Blake's new word of the day)
