i'm kinda inclined not to pop the boob out in public or in front of friends. I'm a wee bit of a prude. Nursing clothes have flaps that you fold up and that drape over the baby's head or expose only a discrete amount of skin.

Do you mean nursing clothes as in "scrubs"? Or is this some sub category of maternity clothes I have never heard of? My mind is reeling from the clothing I am imagining!!!

i wish it were scrubs, but no, it's specially constructed tops (the dresses are hideous) that have

LOL, oh JESUS CHRIST .. that was what I was imagining in horror!!!!!!

Hehehe .. maybe you could make your own with some scissors and velcro.

*shudder*

Oh and THANK YOU by the way ... you are so helping me add reasons to my list of "why I will not have kids". LOL

it's really kinda funny--I love kids, I've wanted to have one for over ten years, just hadn't found the right guy until James, but I'm not a good advertisement for pregnancy AT ALL. I still think it's an abomination (almost no pun intended). I'm expecting though that once the first few months are over with Emily it will be quite a cool thing.

Try here: http://www.onehotmama.com

I'm not sure how the prices are anymore, but they do have some nice things nice as in, cool, not nice as in grandmotherly).

What about overalls? Then you can just pull up a bit of the shirt and unsnap the overall strap so that the areas above and below are still covered?

...and you would be totally prepared in case a spontaneous hootenany happened.

oh GOD I think I just had a hootenannie

it was totally accidental. Maybe there's some medication for that.

Hahahahahaha! That just cracked me up!

Look out! Spontaneous Hootenannie!
A lot of my friends have kids, so I have been through the whole "process" with them, but I just have to tell you, it's always fun reading about different experiences. My best friend nursed her child (who is 9 now-eek!) and used to whip it out anywhere and everywhere. I remember people giving her all sorts of shit for it too..I understand being modest/prudish/whathave you, but I don't see why people got so upset at seeing such a natural thing.
I have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] aprilrobin, no kids for me! ;)
