It was a very very difficult delivery and I'm more than a bit ill. I can't quite walk yet, so James is having to do a lot of everything. I have to be careful not to end up back in the hospital, so I can't do much.

Miss Emily was 8.6 pounds born at 7.03 a.m. on April 25th 2002 after 36 hours of labor and 2 failed epidurals. It was the most wonderful and most difficult and most painful thing we've ever done. We adore her and we're terrified we're going to break her. We have to keep a close watch on her because she was so big and that concerns the docs. She was trying to breastfeed, but she won't now (frustrates too easily) and so we are having to bottle feed her much to my dismay. I'm trying to pump to keep up with the benefits, hopefully my milk will come in, because we think my colostrum did not.

We're overwhelmed and happy and my mail isn't working . You won't hear from us for awhile. I swear I wan to call and talk to you all (especially Jame's Mom and Scott Martini and Gwen and Matt and E and well all of you) but I'm really ill and on a lot of medication right now and Emily and cat integration 4.0 are taking up everything we have. Please understand.

The cats are completely freaked out and the hormones are finally making me absolutely a crazy person.

If you are still having trouble with breastfeeding try contacting someone from La Leche League. Hospitals are too eager to get babies on formula from what I've heard, and are not very supportive in working with mothers to encourage their flow of breastmilk, the baby latching on...and other issues that can occur. It's a good idea you are using a pump however. La Leche League can provide information and help you speak up and advocate for your baby's needs. Also in the first few days I've heard that the baby doesn't even need very much feeding and this can explain it's not wanting to nurse as much right now. Don't worry.

She's simply stunning. Bravo! Here's to a job well done indeed. Sorry things went so rough for you. I had it rough as well and was very sick afterwards and that's hard. You want to revel in the moment, but you're exhausted.
For what it's worth to you, if I can be of any help with any of the breastfeeding stuff, please don't hesitate to email me. In my past life I was a breastfeeding educator and I had a baby who would not latch on or feed either.

She's so sweet! I'm still on vacation, but I just thought I'd check in and see what's happening.... My sister-in-law has a black Dell computer, and that's what I'm on.. I'm not used to this keyboard, it's one of the normal ones, and I'm used to this ergonomic one.

Glad to see you are allright. Baby looks cute. Good luck to all. As a father of 4 I can tell you that it gets easier,and your parental instincs will take over. You got to remember that you are learning, and the baby is learning about you as well. You both will adjust to each opther schedule soon enough.

Wow, she's beautiful! And *huge*! Don't you worry about calling or any of that stuff, girl. You have all the time that you need. I can't get over how amazing both of you look.
