she's still sleeping a lot at night
I'm still tired.
But we are getting the hang of this thing.
And she smiles a LOT now.

on a weird note I'm plagued by thoughts of SIDS and have to check her frequently.
I look at her face and realize how long I've waited for her and the thought of anything happening to her hurts more than I imagine anything could.

I have more to say, but I'm going to try for a nap now that she's napping.

How old would she have to be for you to be in the clear for SIDS?

I think it's six months.

Babies have weird breathing too..it takes time for everything to normalize so she makes all these weird noises or gets really quiet so it gets confusing.

Actually SIDS can occur up until age one. 6 months is the real risk period though. I checked my son every 5 minutes when he was born. I don't think I slept at all until he turned 1 1/2. You'll be fine and so will the baby :)

I felt like a MORON. Just thank your stars that they will never remember you did it, and that because you do it at night not many people catch you doing it ;)

My mother used to put a mirror under my nose to see if I was breathing because I had the most annoying habit a small child can have while sleeping. . .I slept with my eyes open. I can only imagine how creepy that must have been.

eeeeeeee
emily does that TOO

like mr. newg. It's very weird.

hey..I have a question for you--how much tummy time (and how) should I give her--since babies are supposed to sleep on their backs?

Well, the whole sleep them on their backs thing only works until they roll over on their own, anyway, so put her on her belly when you think about it. It's OK if she sleeps on her belly when she's on mom or dad's belly because apparently having your heartbeat there pretty much eliminates the SIDS risk. (don't ask me I just read these things. . .)

Blake didn't like being on his belly much until he was older. Guess because we had to sleep him on his side (to keep him from doing a JimiHendrix with all the reflux)he didn't like laying on his belly.

Dunno. . . I'd say try it and if it makes her cross, try it again in a couple of weeks.

cool, that's what I've been doing. A bit of tummy time each day until she say NO.

hey, when can I call you and pick your brain about baby things?!
